Christiane Döcker

Mezzo-soprano

The Austrian Mezzo-soprano Christiane Döcker has been part of the Ensemble of the Oper Leipzig since the 2018/2019 season, where she has performed Flora (Verdi: La Traviata), Mercédés (Bizet: Carmen), Wowkle (Puccini: La Fanciulla del West) and Hänsel in a children’s opera adaptation of Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel. In the 2019/2020 season she gave her role debut as Rossweiße (Wagner: Die Walküre). She made her debut as the Third Lady (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte) in the Stadttheater Klagenfurt to which she has since returned regularly and has performed Hippolyta (Britten: A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Page der Herodias (Strauss: Salome), Emilia (Verdi: Otello), Mercédés and Dr. Auer in the world premiere of Koma by G.F.Haas. With Dr.Auer role she  made her debut at the Opéra de Dijon in 2019. At the Klosterneuburg Opera Festival, she has performed the Third Lady, Una donna (Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro) and, most recently, in 2018, Flora in La Traviata. As a participant of the Young Singers Project, she was on stage at the Salzburg Festival in 2013 as a Lehrbube in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

Christiane Döcker has a large concert repertoire also performed in well-known houses such as the Wiener Musikverein and the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Brucknerhaus in Linz. Highlights includes a performance of Haydn’s Timpani Mass alongside Camilla Nylund, Anton Saris and Günter Groissböck, as well as Beethoven’s IX Symphony under Thomas Rösner and the Sinfonietta Baden. She performed Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde for Chamber Orchestra at the Musikverein Wien and was last heard under the Waidhofen Chamber Orchestra with Haydn’s Nelsonmass and Bach’s Council Election Cantata. She was also represented at the Austrian Music Weeks Bulgaria Festival in 2014 with a recital of Austrian composers.

She is the  winner of the National Competition Prima la Musica 2008, she also won the Oscar Straus operetta competition in 2013 and was a finalist in the 21st International Johannes Brahms Competition in 2014. Christiane Döcker received her first musical education already in elementary school with recorder and flute and first studied music pedagogy/ Italian (Mag. 2015) in Vienna. In addition, she completed her bachelor’s degree in vocal pedagogy in 2014 and the master’s degree in song and oratorio with Margit Klaushofer and Charles Spencer in 2017.
