Svenja Isabella Kallweit

Soprano

The young soprano Svenja Isabella Kallweit was born in Germany. In 2017 she completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Claudia Visca, where now she is also completing a master’s degree. In the season 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 she was a member of the opera studio at the Landestheater Linz where she performed roles such as Voice of a Falcon and Guardian of the Threshold (Strauss: Die Frau ohne Schatten), Fourth Maid (Strauss: Elektra), Nadja (Beer: Polish Wedding) and Female Chorus (Britten: The Rape of Lucretia). In January 2020 she was seen in the world premiere of Die Schule oder das Alphabet der Welt by Peter Androsch as Soprano I.

Svenja Isabella Kallweit  won several first federal prizes in the “Jugend musiziert“competition. She also received special prizes from the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”, the “Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation” and of the Bärenreiter Verlag and was supported by a Gerd Bucerius grant from ZEIT.  In cooperation with the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben” she went on  a concert tour in Greece with a solo program. She also performed Berlioz‘s song cycle Les nuits d’été with the Bergische Symphoniker. As part of a Wagner symposium at the Wiener Staatsoper she took part in a master class with Deborah Polaski.

During her studies she performed in the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn as Rosalinde (Strauss: Die Fledermaus), Tatjana (Tchaikovsky: Eugen Onegin), Second Lady (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte) and Ernesto (Haydn: Il mondo della luna) and in other productions as Fiordiligi (Mozart: Così fan tutte), Giorgetta (Puccini: Il tabarro) and as Cendrillon in a children’s version of the opera of the same name by Jules Massenet. A guest engagement led her as Ottilie (Benatzky: Im Weißen Rössl) to the Schlossfestspiele Zwingenberg in Germany. She also performed in concerts in France, Greece, Poland and Italy.
