Spanish coloratura Soprano Maria del Mar Humanes, born in Barcelona, ​​recently made her German stage debut as Titania (Purcell: The Fairy Queen), followed by her /home debut ???/ at Aalto-Theater Essen, where she performed role of Musetta (Puccini: La Bohème) and Erste Dame (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte). Other engagements of past seasons include Susanna (Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro), Zerlina (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Lucy (Weill: The Dreigroschen Opera), Frasquita (Bizet: Carmen), Cleopatra (Handel: Guilio Cesare), Morgana (Handel: Alcina) and Oscar (Verdi: Un Ballo in Maschera). The roles that Maria del Mar Humanes is currently preparing include Queen of the Night (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Zerbinetta (Strauss: Ariadne on Naxos) and Gilda (Verdi: Rigoletto).

In Spain, Maria del Mar Humanes was a member of the OperaEstudio Madrid and the Barcelona OperaStudio. She made her opera debut at the National Theater Institute of the Netherlands (Amsterdam) with the world premiere of the opera “Medea” by Tania Sikelianou. Her cooperation with the Dutch Opera Academy and the Dutch National Opera  also originated in Amsterdam. She is the  winner of the Conchita Badia competition in 2014 and the Camerata Sant Cugat XIII 2016, and was a finalist in several international competitions.

Her active concert activities include soprano parts in Vivaldi’s Gloria, the St. Matthew Passion (Bach), Mozart’s Requiem and his Coronation Mass, Mendelssohn’s Praise, in the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi and Rossini, Handel’s Messiah and Haydn’s Creation. Maria del Mar is also a passionate and dedicated song interpreter. Together with the pianist Maxim Shamo, she forms a permanent song duo (Duo Aedea) that follows the artistic direction of Prof. Helmut Deutsch. Upcoming concerts will bring the Duo Aedea to Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands. In the 2016-2017 season, the duo Aedea was part of the Young Artist Program URIM of the Art of Lied in Belgium and was selected as the “Emerging Artist of the Art Song” 100-year-old International Summer Academy Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria).

In 2020 Maria del Mar Humanes released the CD Un Paseo por los Jardines de España on the ARS production label, which is dedicated to the Spanish art song.
