Leonardo Navarro

Tenor

Chilean Tenor Leonardo Navarro gave his operatic debut in 2011 in his hometown of Concepción, Chile, in Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschino. Other roles in this house include Monostratos (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte) and Messagiero (Verdi: Aida). He was invited to perform at various opera houses in South America, where he sang roles such as Conte d’Almaviva (Rossini: Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Cassio (Verdi: Otello), Goro (Puccini: Madama Butterfly) and Remendado (Bizet: Carmen). In 2016, he gave his debut as Pong  (Puccini: Turandot) at the opera house of the Chilean capital, Santiago.

Since 2017 he is a member of the Ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper where he gave his debut as Tichon (Janácek: Kátja Kabánova). Since then he appeared in various roles throughout the operatic repertoire, among them Herault de Sichelles (von Einem: Dantons Tod), Basilio and Don Curzio (Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro), Borsa (Verdi: Rigoletto), Erster Gralsritter (Wagner: Parsifal), Spoletta (Puccini: Tosca), Abdallo (Verdi: Nabucco) and Pong (Puccini: Turandot). Leonardo appeared in two new productions of the 2018/2019 season, as Normanno in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and in June 2019 in the premiere of Verdi’s Otello, where he sang Rodrigo. The current season he made his role debut as Brighella (Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos) and also saw him reprising Rodrigo and Pong.
